What styles of promotional imprinted mouse pads do we supply?

We have a wide assortment of mouse pads and can provide Hitek color pads (soft surface) and Lexan pads (hard surface). Our Hitek color and Promotek mouse pads are the most popular. They are imprinted with a high resolution 400 dpi continous tone color image. This imprint is by far the best in the market place. Hitek color can maintain detail in your artwork far and beyond what the competition can that uses sublimation as their decoration process. Size Hitek pads are 9-1/4"x 7-3/4" x 1/4". 1/8, and 1/16 Promotek pads come in the same thickness but come in the economy size of 7-/1/2" x 8" Hard surface - Lexan pads can be imprinted with either spot color or four-color process. ( One issue to consider with a hard top pad is that the lexan can sometimes can affect the curser in something called "mouse jitter". This is not in all cases but sometimes the optical mouse is affected by the reflection of the lexan and the lasor light driving the curser on the monitor.) Size pads are 9-1/4"x 7-3/4" x 1/4". 1/8, and 1/16 and the economy size of 7-/1/2" x 8" x 1/4" and 1/8".

What is the difference between Hitek Color imprinting and 4-color process on mouse pads?

Hitek color and 4-color process are two very different ways to imprint mouse pads. Hitek color is a 400 dpi continous color imprinting processes. There is no need for separate plates or screens usually refered to a seperations for each ink color (CMYK). Hitek color has a one time low set up charge of $75.00 for as many colors as you want. 4-color process as you could anticipate requires seperations for every color. The more colors to be imprinted, the more seperations and plates are needed. This is a more costly way to print mouse pads, if there are a lot of colors. In the case of sublimation imprinting (4-color process) does not have the same resolution nor clarity as Hitek color.

Why use different mouse pad thickness?

For years users have had the idea that a thicker mouse pad was a better mouse pad. Even so, the only difference between a 1/4" thick mouse pad and thinner mouse pads is the thickness of the neoprene backing and this has no effect on pad quality or durability. The only consequence is the cost and the weight. So why would anyone buy a 1/16" mouse pad? There are several reasons: They are less expensive to buy and much less expensive to ship. Also 1/16" can have an advantage when it comes to a direct mail piece. A 1/16" pad nearly weights 25% of the weight of the equivalent size and type 1/4" thick mouse pad. This is a 75% savings on transportation fees. This transportation savings is particularly important to intrenational customers where freight costs are a good deal higher than shipping domestically. Some users actually prefer 1/16" thick mouse pads since the mouse can be run off and on the pad without needing to raise it up to clear the border of the pad.

Getting your artwork to us?

The best and quickest way for you is to e-mail it to us as an attachment. Our e-mail address is sales@4promoproducts.com. If the file size is too large for your e-mail server, call us for directions on how to FTP the file. If you have a disk or a hard copy that we need to scan Federal Express or UPS would be the best way to send it. A match print, along with a computer file, is most suitable since it shows us what colors you are expecting to see. This is particularly needed for 4-color process (picture quality) jobs. If you fax us your design remember this should only be used to convey an idea as this would be too low a resolution to use as actual art. We have a staff that can help with your artwork needs. Give us a call we are here to help. Important: Please remember to put your name, phone, and fax number on any e-mail, fax or letter you send us. We need to be able to communicate with you on artwork. If we need clarification on an order, it is much faster to pick up the phone and give you a call.

Graphic formats we support.

We use Macintosh computers and can accept tif, jpg, eps, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop files. The file should be 300 dpi resolution at exact size. In other words if the pad is 7.5 x 8 inches then a jpg supplied would need to be 300 dpi at that size. This is necessary to imprint a mouse pad and have is look good.
